Honda Center is home to the Anaheim Ducks, and on February 17, 2015, it will become the home of the First Flight Field Trip. Join more than 15,000 students and teachers for this free one-day event as we explore the math and science of hockey in Southern California's largest classroom. Unlike traditional field trip destinations, the First Flight Field Trip will educate students within a highly exciting and entertaining atmosphere. It will combine learning from hands-on exhibits and displays, workbook activities, and best of all, students will be taught live and in-person by hockey’s experts -- the Anaheim Ducks players and coaches! Make this national award-winning program your next field trip destination this year. We guarantee it will be the most memorable field trip for your students!
The First Flight Field Trip presents a new and engaging theme every year for students. This year, weíre placing all our focus on the hockey puck. Why did we choose this small object as the subject of our field trip? Itís the biggest thing in hockey! Although the puck is often overshadowed by the size of hockey players and the large piece of ice it sits on, itís essential for playing this fast and exciting sport. Where would this sport be without this black rubber disc or how would the game change if it was a cube? The First Flight Field Trip will pose these questions and discuss all aspects of the puck including its weight, shape, material, and size. Students will explore this information along with their knowledge of math and science to try to design an improved puck for hockey players like the Anaheim Ducks.†Discover, discuss, and design with the Ducks at the 2015 First Flight Field Trip at Honda Center.

At 10:30 AM, the program moves from the “Playground” to the “Classroom” where students will be met by their First Flight Field Trip teachers, the Anaheim Ducks players and coaches! As the students are in their seats with their workbooks out, various Ducks players will cover the educational concepts and spend time explaining the answers to the questions found in the workbook lessons. They will also test students by calling on them to participate in various pop quiz segments for great prizes. At the conclusion of the event, the entire Ducks team will compete in an exciting skills showdown for all to enjoy!
