About Score

Honda Center is home to the Anaheim Ducks, and on February 7, 2012, it will become the home of the First Flight Field Trip. Join more than 15,000 students and teachers for this free one-day event as we explore the math and science of hockey in Southern California's largest classroom. Unlike traditional science museums, the First Flight Field Trip will educate students within a highly exciting and entertaining atmosphere. It will combine learning from hands-on exhibits and displays, workbook activities, and best of all, students will be taught live and in-person by hockey experts -- the Anaheim Ducks players and coaches! Make this national award-winning program your next field trip destination this year. We guarantee it will be the most memorable field trip for your students!

The First Flight Field Trip explores a new theme each year to provide your students a unique experience each time they participate in the field trip. This year, "Mind, Body, and Goal!" will get your students thinking about the important connection between their brain and body. In this field trip, students will apply their knowledge of math and science to explore the preparation of the Anaheim Ducks players and see how their daily activities not only build up the body, but also the mind. During the First Flight Field Trip, learn how much sleep Ducks players need in order to be at their peak performance, understand why "brain food" helps with the ability to memorize hockey plays, discover how players improve reaction time, and more!

There is no cost to attend the First Flight Field Trip. It is FREE! Tickets and workbooks are included in your registration and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. These items will be sent to schools one month prior to the event. Each person attending the event will be assigned a seat location and all students will receive an official First Flight Field Trip workbook.

The "playground" is the First Flight Field Trip's exhibition area located in the Honda Center parking lot. It will open at 8 AM, and students can participate in interactive activities and engage in hands-on exhibits that relate to the educational lessons found in the First Flight Field Trip workbook. This year, schools will be placed into a track where they will be able to experience the exhibits at assigned times in order to avoid long wait times.

Classroom (10:45AM - 12:30PM)
The bell rings for class at 10:15AM and dismisses at 12:30PM. The on-ice segment hockey segment with the entire Anaheim Ducks team, including both players and coaches, will begin at 10:45 AM. All workbook lessons will be covered and answers to questions will be worked out and revealed with members of the Anaheim Ducks. In addition, students will have the opportunity to participate in various pop quiz segments for great prizes. After the educational portion of the event, the Ducks will entertain students with an exciting skills competition for all to enjoy!
